- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. The county board of commissioners of any county in this state is authorized to raise and appropriate money for the purpose of fostering any activity or project which in the opinion of the board tends to advance the historical interests of the county.
