- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
Corporations may be formed under this act in the upper peninsula and Branch and Macomb counties for the purpose of operating and further improving any canal or improvement in the upper peninsula and Branch and Macomb counties, of any corporation formed under the act hereby re-instated, and may purchase the canal or other improvements, lands, or other property of such corporations.
