Terms Used In Michigan Laws 500.3703
- Director: means , unless the context clearly implies a different meaning, the director of the department. See Michigan Laws 500.102
- plan: means an expense-incurred hospital, medical, or surgical policy or certificate, or health maintenance organization contract. See Michigan Laws 500.3701
- Premium: means all money paid by a small employer, eligible employees, or eligible persons as a condition of receiving coverage from a small employer carrier, including any fees or other contributions associated with the health benefit plan. See Michigan Laws 500.3701
- Small employer: means any person actively engaged in business that, on at least 50% of its working days during the preceding and current calendar years, employed not fewer than 2 and not more than 50 eligible employees. See Michigan Laws 500.3701
(1) This chapter applies to any health benefit plan that provides coverage to 2 or more employees of a small employer.
(2) This chapter does not apply to individual health insurance policies that are subject to policy form and premium approval by the director.
