Terms Used In Michigan Laws 560.161

  • Governing body: means the legislative body of a city or village or the township board of a township. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Municipality: means a township, city, or village. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Plat: means a map or chart of a subdivision of land. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Preliminary plat: means a map showing the salient features of a proposed subdivision submitted to an approving authority for purposes of preliminary consideration. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • Proprietor: means a natural person, firm, association, partnership, corporation, or combination of any of them that holds an ownership interest in land whether recorded or not. See Michigan Laws 560.102
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  • Surveyor: means a professional surveyor licensed under article 20 of the occupational code, 1980 PA 299, MCL 339. See Michigan Laws 560.102
    (1) The final plat shall be submitted in accordance with the procedure prescribed in this section and section 162 to 173.
    (2) The proprietor shall submit 1 true copy of the final plat to each of the following officers or agencies, as applicable, for their simultaneous review and action within the time periods prescribed in section 163 to 167a:
    (a) The drain commissioner, if the drain commissioner’s approval was required on the preliminary plat.
    (b) The board of county road commissioners, if the board’s approval was required on the preliminary plat.
    (c) The clerk of the governing body of the municipality, together with the filing and recording fee required by section 241.
    (d) The state transportation department, if the department’s approval was required on the preliminary plat.
    (3) The sworn certificate of the surveyor who made the plat shall appear on each true copy of the final plat and shall state all of the following:
    (a) A statement that the copy is a true copy of the final plat.
    (b) A statement that the plat is subject to the approval of each of the officers and agencies whose approval is required under section 162 to 169, with a list of those officers and agencies.
    (c) The date of the certificate.
