Terms Used In Michigan Laws 561.7

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • person: as used in this act shall include public and private corporations, copartnerships, unincorporated or voluntary associations as well as individuals. See Michigan Laws 561.13
     The circuit court in chancery shall have jurisdiction to determine interest or title to any parcel of land, whether the person entitled to such decree is in possession or not.
