Terms Used In Michigan Laws 600.1912

  • Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
  • Summons: Another word for subpoena used by the criminal justice system.
     Service of process may be made upon an individual by leaving a summons and a copy of the complaint with the defendant personally.
