Terms Used In Michigan Laws 700.1017
- Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
- Court: means the probate court or, when applicable, the circuit court. See Michigan Laws 700.1002
- Decedent: A deceased person.
- Person: means that term as defined in section 1106 of the estates and protected individuals code, 1998 PA 386, MCL 700. See Michigan Laws 700.1002
- Personal representative: means that term as defined in section 1106 of the estates and protected individuals code, 1998 PA 386, MCL 700. See Michigan Laws 700.1002
Notwithstanding section 7 or 8, an interested person may file a petition in the court for an order to limit, eliminate, or modify the personal representative‘s powers with respect to the decedent‘s digital assets. On receipt of a petition under this section, the court shall set a date for a hearing on the petition. The hearing date must not be less than 14 days or more than 56 days after the date the petition is filed, except for good cause.
