Terms Used In Michigan Laws 700.2911
- Common law: The legal system that originated in England and is now in use in the United States. It is based on judicial decisions rather than legislative action.
- Person: includes an entity and an individual, but does not include a fiduciary, an estate, or a trust. See Michigan Laws 700.2901
- Property: means anything that may be the subject of ownership. See Michigan Laws 700.2901

The common law right of disclaimer or renunciation is abolished. This part does not abridge the right of a person to waive, release, disclaim, or renounce property or an interest in property under another statute.
