Terms Used In Michigan Laws 780.827b
- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
- Victim: means any of the following:
(i) An individual who suffers direct or threatened physical, financial, or emotional harm as a result of the commission of a serious misdemeanor, except as provided in subparagraph (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v). See Michigan Laws 780.811
If a defendant is sentenced to probation with a condition for the protection of the victim and if requested by the victim, the court shall notify the victim by mail if the court orders that the probation be terminated earlier than previously ordered.
