- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- Articles: means the articles of incorporation of an authority. See Michigan Laws 123.1061
- Authority: means a community swimming pool authority created under section 3. See Michigan Laws 123.1061
- Bequest: Property gifted by will.
- Board: means the board of directors of the authority. See Michigan Laws 123.1061
- community college: includes a junior college established prior to June 14, 1955. See Michigan Laws 380.1601
- Community swimming pool: means an artificial body of water owned or operated by an authority or a district that is used collectively by a number of individuals primarily for the purpose of swimming, wading, recreation, or instruction and includes related equipment, structures, areas, and enclosures intended for the use of individuals using or operating the swimming pool such as equipment, dressing, locker, shower, and toilet rooms. - Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Devise: To gift property by will.
- District: means a school district that serves a municipality whose population is not less than 15,000 and whose territory is located in not less than 2 counties, each of which has at least 15% of the municipality's population. See Michigan Laws 123.1061
- Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.
- Freedom of Information Act: A federal law that mandates that all the records created and kept by federal agencies in the executive branch of government must be open for public inspection and copying. The only exceptions are those records that fall into one of nine exempted categories listed in the statute. Source: OCC
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- in writing: shall be construed to include printing, engraving, and lithographing; except that if the written signature of a person is required by law, the signature shall be the proper handwriting of the person or, if the person is unable to write, the person's proper mark, which may be, unless otherwise expressly prohibited by law, a clear and classifiable fingerprint of the person made with ink or another substance. - Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Municipality: means a city, village, or township. See Michigan Laws 123.1061
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Participating municipality: means a municipality that has adopted a resolution providing for the establishment of and the municipality's participation in an authority. See Michigan Laws 123.1061
- Personal property: All property that is not real property.
- Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
- Superintendent: means the superintendent of the board of education of a district. See Michigan Laws 123.1061
