  • Affordable care act: means the patient protection and affordable care act, Public Law 111-148, as amended by the health care and education reconciliation act of 2010, Public Law 111-152. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Certificate: means a document issued by the director authorizing a person to act as a navigator or certified application counselor for the qualifications specified in the document. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Certificate holder: means a person issued a certificate under this chapter. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Certified application counselor: means an individual who is certified as a certified application counselor under this chapter and is authorized by the United States department of health and human services to perform the duties described in 45 C. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Certified navigator: means a person that is certified as a navigator under this chapter. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Commissioner: means the director. See Michigan Laws 500.102
  • Department: means the department of licensing and regulatory affairs. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
  • Department: means the department of insurance and financial services. See Michigan Laws 500.102
  • Director: means , unless the context clearly implies a different meaning, the director of the department. See Michigan Laws 500.102
  • Enrollee: means an individual who is entitled to receive health services under a health insurance contract, unless the context requires otherwise. See Michigan Laws 500.116
  • Exchange: means an American health benefits exchange established or operating under the affordable care act. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Financial institution: means that term as defined in section 201 of the medical marihuana facilities licensing act, MCL 333. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
  • Insurance: means any of the lines of authority in chapter 6. See Michigan Laws 500.1201
  • Insurance: means any of the kinds of insurance described in chapter 6. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Insurance producer: means a person required to be licensed under the laws of this state to sell, solicit, or negotiate insurance. See Michigan Laws 500.1201
  • Insurer: means an individual, corporation, association, partnership, reciprocal exchange, inter-insurer, Lloyds organization, fraternal benefit society, or other legal entity, engaged or attempting to engage in the business of making insurance or surety contracts. See Michigan Laws 500.106
  • License: means a document issued by the director authorizing a person to act as an insurance producer for the qualifications specified in the document. See Michigan Laws 500.1201
  • Licensee: means that term as defined in section 102 of the medical marihuana facilities licensing act, MCL 333. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
  • Marihuana: means that term as defined in section 3 of the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act, 2018 IL 1, MCL 333. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
  • Medical marihuana facilities licensing act: means the medical marihuana facilities licensing act, 2016 PA 281, MCL 333. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
  • Navigator: means a person that receives any funding from an exchange or the federal government and is designated or selected by an exchange or the federal government to perform any of the duties described in 42 USC 18031(i)(3). See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Negotiate: means the act of conferring directly with or offering advice directly to a purchaser or prospective purchaser of a particular contract of insurance concerning any of the substantive benefits, terms, or conditions of the contract, provided that the person engaged in that act either sells insurance or obtains insurance from insurers for purchasers.   • Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
  • Qualified health plan: means that term as defined in section 1301 of the affordable care act. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Registered primary caregiver: means that term as defined in section 102 of the medical marihuana facilities licensing act, MCL 333. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
  • Registered qualifying patient: means that term as defined in section 102 of the medical marihuana facilities licensing act, MCL 333. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
  • Registry identification card: means that term as defined in section 3 of the Michigan medical marihuana act, 2008 IL 1, MCL 333. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
  • Sell: means to exchange a contract of insurance by any means, for money or its equivalent, on behalf of an insurance company. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • Solicit: means attempting to sell insurance or asking or urging a person to apply for a particular kind of insurance from a particular company. See Michigan Laws 500.1261
  • system: means an internet-based, statewide database established, implemented, and maintained directly or indirectly by the department that is available to licensees, law enforcement agencies, and authorized state departments and agencies on a 24-hour basis for all of the following:
    (i) Verifying registry identification cards. See Michigan Laws 333.27902
