- annual meeting: when applied to townships, mean the annual meeting required by law to be held on the Saturday immediately preceding the first Monday in April. See Michigan Laws 8.3d
- Certified nurse midwife: means an individual who is licensed as a registered professional nurse under part 172 who has been granted a specialty certification in the practice of nurse midwifery by the Michigan board of nursing under section 17210. See Michigan Laws 333.2701
- Certified nurse practitioner: means an individual who is licensed as a registered professional nurse under part 172 who has been granted a specialty certification as a nurse practitioner by the Michigan board of nursing under section 17210. See Michigan Laws 333.2701
- city: whenever used in this act , shall be construed to mean a city incorporated under this act, or made subject to its provisions. See Michigan Laws 113.10
- Clinical nurse specialist-certified: means an individual who is licensed as a registered professional nurse under part 172 who has been granted a specialty certification as a clinical nurse specialist by the Michigan board of nursing under section 17210. See Michigan Laws 333.2701
- Commission: means the commission of natural resources. See Michigan Laws 320.2033
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- Dentist: means an individual who is licensed to engage in the practice of dentistry under part 166. See Michigan Laws 333.2701
- Department: means the department of natural resources. See Michigan Laws 320.2033
- Designated advanced practice registered nurse: means a certified nurse midwife, certified nurse practitioner, or clinical nurse specialist-certified. See Michigan Laws 333.2701
- Designated mental health professional: means an individual who is qualified in the area of mental illness or developmental disabilities and who is 1 of the following:
(i) A nurse. See Michigan Laws 333.2701Designated physician: means a physician qualified in 1 of the physician specialty areas identified in section 2711. See Michigan Laws 333.2701 Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other. Forest: means a tract of land that is at least 10% stocked by trees of any size, whether of commercial or noncommercial species, or formerly having tree cover and not currently developed for nonforest use, including woodlands, woodlots, windbreaks, and shelter belts. See Michigan Laws 320.2033 Forestry operations: means activities related to the harvesting, reforestation, and other management activities, including, but not limited to, thinning, pest control, fertilization, and wildlife management, that are consistent with principles of sustainable forestry. See Michigan Laws 320.2033 Generally accepted forestry management practices: means those forest management practices as prescribed by the commission. See Michigan Laws 320.2033 Landowner: means the possessor of a fee interest in land or a tenant, lessee, occupant, or other person in lawful control of land. See Michigan Laws 320.2033 Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity. Licensed professional counselor: means an individual who is licensed under part 181 to engage in the practice of counseling without supervision. See Michigan Laws 333.2701 Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt. Marriage and family therapist: means an individual who is licensed under part 169 to engage in the practice of marriage and family therapy. See Michigan Laws 333.2701 Medicare: means benefits under the federal Medicare program established under title XVIII of the social security act, 42 USC 1395 to 1395lll. See Michigan Laws 333.2701 Nurse: means an individual who is licensed to engage in the practice of nursing under part 172. See Michigan Laws 333.2701 Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period. person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l Physician: means an individual who is licensed as a physician under part 170 or part 175. See Michigan Laws 333.2701 Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit. Precedent: A court decision in an earlier case with facts and law similar to a dispute currently before a court. Precedent will ordinarily govern the decision of a later similar case, unless a party can show that it was wrongly decided or that it differed in some significant way. Psychologist: means an individual licensed to engage in the practice of psychology under part 182. See Michigan Laws 333.2701 seal: shall be construed to include any of the following:
(a) The impression of the seal on the paper alone. See Michigan Laws 8.3nstate: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o Sustainable forestry: means forestry practices that are designed to meet present and future wood product needs by employing a land stewardship ethic that integrates the reforestation, managing, growing, nurturing, and harvesting of trees for useful products with the conservation of soil, air and water quality, wildlife and fish habitat, and visual changes. See Michigan Laws 320.2033 Timber: means live or dead trees, including, but not limited to, bark, foliage, wood, and firewood. See Michigan Laws 320.2033 United States: shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
