- Consumer protection act: means the Michigan consumer protection act, Act No. See Michigan Laws 445.52
- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
- judgment: as used in this act , includes decree. See Michigan Laws 600.112
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- Person: means an individual, partnership, cooperation, association, trust, or other legal entity. See Michigan Laws 445.52
- person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
- Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
- Trade or commerce: means trade or commerce as defined in section 2 of the consumer protection act. See Michigan Laws 445.52
- United States: shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
