Subdivision 1.Activities of the organization.

Any student enrolled in a vocational technical education program approved by the commissioner of education or the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities may belong to a vocational student organization that is operated as an integral part of the vocational program. The commissioner of education and the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities may provide necessary technical assistance and leadership at the state level for administration of approved vocational student organizations and fiscal accounts, including administration of state and national conferences.

Terms Used In Minnesota Statutes 124D.355

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • state: extends to and includes the District of Columbia and the several territories. See Minnesota Statutes 645.44

The commissioner and the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities may retain dues and other money collected on behalf of students participating in approved vocational student organizations and may deposit the money in separate accounts. The money in these accounts shall be available for expenditures for state and national activities related to specific organizations. Administration of money collected under this section is not subject to the provisions of chapters 15, 16A, 16B, and 16C, and may be deposited outside the state treasury. Money shall be administered under the policies of the applicable state board or agency relating to postsecondary and secondary vocational student organizations and is subject to audit by the legislative auditor. Any unexpended money shall not cancel but may be carried forward to the next fiscal year.
