Minnesota Statutes 148.233 – Identification of Certified Registered Nurses
Subdivision 1.Registered nurse.
A registered nurse certified in a specialized field of professional nursing as described in section 148.171, subdivision 22, shall use the designation RN,C for personal identification and in documentation of services provided. Identification of educational degrees and specialty fields may be added.

(a) Only those persons who hold a current license to practice advanced practice registered nursing in this state may use the title advanced practice registered nurse with the role designation of certified registered nurse anesthetist, certified nurse-midwife, certified clinical nurse specialist, or certified nurse practitioner.
(b) An advanced practice registered nurse shall use the appropriate designation: APRN, CNS; APRN, CNM; APRN, CNP; or APRN, CRNA for personal identification and in documentation of services provided. Identification of educational degrees and specialty fields may be added.
(c) When providing nursing care, an advanced practice registered nurse shall provide clear identification of the appropriate advanced practice registered nurse designation.
