Minnesota Statutes 256R.17 – Case Mix
Subdivision 1.Case mix classifications.
The case mix classifications shall be those established under section 144.0724.

(a) The commissioner shall assign a case mix index to each case mix classification as determined by the commissioner of health under section 144.0724.
(b) An index maximization approach shall be used to classify residents. “Index maximization” has the meaning given in section 144.0724, subdivision 2, paragraph (c).
Subd. 3.Resident assessment schedule.
(a) Nursing facilities must conduct and submit case mix classification assessments according to the schedule established by the commissioner of health under section 144.0724, subdivisions 4 and 5.
(b) The case mix classifications established under section 144.0724, subdivision 3a, are effective the day of admission for new admission assessments. The effective date for significant change assessments is the assessment reference date. The effective date for annual and quarterly assessments and significant corrections assessments is the first day of the month following assessment reference date.
Subd. 4.Notice of resident reimbursement case mix classification.
Nursing facilities shall provide notice to a resident of the resident’s case mix classification according to procedures established by the commissioner of health under section 144.0724, subdivision 7.
Subd. 5.Reconsideration of resident case mix classification.
Any request for reconsideration of a resident case mix classification must be made under section 144.0724, subdivision 8.
