Subdivision 1.Terms.

For the purposes of sections 116J.73 to 116J.86, the following terms have the meanings given them.

Terms Used In Minnesota Statutes 116J.74

  • Commissioner: means the commissioner of employment and economic development. See Minnesota Statutes 116J.03
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Department: means the Department of Employment and Economic Development. See Minnesota Statutes 116J.03
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Minnesota Statutes 645.44
  • state: extends to and includes the District of Columbia and the several territories. See Minnesota Statutes 645.44

“Agency” has the meaning given it in section 14.02, subdivision 2.

Subd. 3.Applicant.

“Applicant” means a person acting personally or authorized to act on behalf of any other person for the purpose of securing a license.

Subd. 4.Bureau.

“Bureau” means the Bureau of Business Licenses.

Subd. 5.Commissioner.

“Commissioner” means the commissioner of the Department of Employment and Economic Development.

Subd. 6.Director.

“Director” means the director of the Bureau of Business Licenses.

Subd. 7.Business license.

“Business license” or “license” has the meaning given it in section 116J.70, subdivision 2.

Subd. 7a.

Subd. 8.Person.

“Person” means any individual, proprietorship, partnership, association, cooperative, corporation, nonprofit organization, state or local government agency, and any other organization required to obtain one or more licenses.
