- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- LWECS: means any combination of WECS with a combined nameplate capacity of 5,000 kilowatts or more. See Minnesota Statutes 216F.01
- SWECS: means any combination of WECS with a combined nameplate capacity of less than 5,000 kilowatts. See Minnesota Statutes 216F.01
