Terms Used In Missouri Laws 139.170
- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
If there be no regular term of the county commission in any county on the first Monday in March, a special term of such commission shall be called by any two commissioners thereof, to be held on that day in each year, for the purpose of making the settlement required by this chapter; and if, from any cause, there shall be no meeting of the commission held on that day, then it shall be the duty of the commission to receive the delinquent lists and make settlement with the collector at the next term thereafter; provided, that on the application of the collector, it shall be the duty of the presiding commissioner of the county commission to call a special term for that purpose as soon as practicable.
