- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Upon a finding of paternity by a court, the parties to a paternity action may submit, either separately or jointly, a parenting plan, as defined in section 452.310, regarding the child who is the subject of such paternity action. If a parenting plan is submitted, the court shall order a parenting plan for such child. If the court does not have proper jurisdiction, the court shall transfer the case to an appropriate court having jurisdiction on the matter.
