1. The provisions of chapter 287 governing workers’ compensation are extended to include all personnel of the department. The state of Missouri shall be a self-insurer and assume all liability imposed by chapter 287 in respect to such personnel and the attorney general shall appear on behalf of and defend the state in all actions brought by such personnel under chapter 287.
2. The extension of chapter 287 to include personnel of the department shall not be construed as acknowledging or creating any liability in tort, or as incurring other obligations or duties other than the duty and obligation of complying with the provisions of chapter 287.

- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020
