Terms Used In Missouri Laws 301.031
- Commercial motor vehicle: a motor vehicle designed or regularly used for carrying freight and merchandise, or more than eight passengers but not including vanpools or shuttle buses. See Missouri Laws 301.010
- Gross weight: the weight of vehicle and/or vehicle combination without load, plus the weight of any load thereon. See Missouri Laws 301.010
- Local commercial motor vehicle: a commercial motor vehicle whose operations are confined to a municipality and that area extending not more than fifty miles therefrom, or a commercial motor vehicle whose property-carrying operations are confined solely to the transportation of property owned by any person who is the owner or operator of such vehicle to or from a farm owned by such person or under the person's control by virtue of a landlord and tenant lease. - Municipality: any city, town or village, whether incorporated or not. See Missouri Laws 301.010
Notwithstanding the twenty-five mile* operations limit imposed in section 301.010 upon local commercial motor vehicles, a local commercial motor vehicle licensed for forty-eight thousand pounds gross weight and above may be used to haul solid waste as defined in section 260.200 up to sixty miles from the municipality in which its operations are otherwise confined and still be eligible to register as a local commercial motor vehicle.
