- director of revenue: the director of the department of revenue. See Missouri Laws 301.010
- Motor vehicle: any self-propelled vehicle not operated exclusively upon tracks, except farm tractors and electric bicycles. See Missouri Laws 301.010
- Right of survivorship: The ownership rights that result in the acquisition of title to property by reason of having survived other co-owners.
- Trailer: any vehicle without motive power designed for carrying property or passengers on its own structure and for being drawn by a self-propelled vehicle, except those running exclusively on tracks, including a semitrailer or vehicle of the trailer type so designed and used in conjunction with a self-propelled vehicle that a considerable part of its own weight rests upon and is carried by the towing vehicle. When the director of revenue issues a certificate of ownership for a motor vehicle or trailer in the names of two or more persons, it shall be presumed that ownership of the motor vehicle or trailer is held by the persons shown on the certificate as joint tenants with right of survivorship or as tenants by the entirety if the owners are husband and wife, unless at the time the application for a certificate of ownership is filed with the director of revenue, the application states that ownership of the motor vehicle or trailer is held as tenants in common.
