Missouri Laws 302.301 – Restricted licenses
1. In addition to other restrictions imposed by this chapter, upon issuance of a license, the director shall have authority, when good cause appears, to impose restrictions suitable to the applicant’s driving ability and pertaining to the type or special mechanical control devices required on a motor vehicle which the applicant may operate, or such other restrictions applicable to the applicant as the director may determine to be appropriate to assure the safe operation of a motor vehicle by the applicant.
2. The director may issue either a special restricted license or may set forth the restrictions upon the usual license form. Upon receiving satisfactory evidence of any violation of the restrictions imposed pursuant to this chapter, the director may suspend or revoke the license, but the operator shall be entitled to an appeal as provided in section 302.311.

- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Director: the director of revenue acting directly or through the director's authorized officers and agents. See Missouri Laws 302.010
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- License: a license issued by a state to a person which authorizes a person to operate a motor vehicle. See Missouri Laws 302.010
- Motor vehicle: any self-propelled vehicle not operated exclusively upon tracks except motorized bicycles, as defined in section 307. See Missouri Laws 302.010
- Operator: every person who is in actual physical control of a motor vehicle upon a highway. See Missouri Laws 302.010
- person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020
- Vehicle: any mechanical device on wheels, designed primarily for use, or used on highways, except motorized bicycles, electric bicycles, vehicles propelled or drawn by horses or human power, or vehicles used exclusively on fixed rails or tracks, or cotton trailers or motorized wheelchairs operated by handicapped persons. 3. Any person who operates a motor vehicle in any manner in violation of the restrictions imposed in a restricted license issued to the person shall be deemed guilty of a class C misdemeanor.
