Terms Used In Missouri Laws 325.015

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

No person, partnership, association or corporation shall, directly or indirectly, act as a public adjuster or public adjuster solicitor within this state, or receive for or because of services rendered in the adjustment of any claim or claims for loss or damage by fire or other casualty within the provisions of fire or allied insurance policies any money or commission or other thing of value, without first securing a license to act as a public adjuster or public adjuster solicitor from the director as hereinafter prescribed. No such license shall permit the holder thereof to engage in the practice of law or to conduct law business as defined in section 484.010.
