- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
The corporation shall have all the powers, rights and privileges of a corporation organized under chapter 355, except insofar as such provisions are inconsistent with the provisions of sections 354.010 to 354.380, but it shall not commence its business or operations until it receives authority to do so from the director of the department of commerce and insurance, as provided in section 354.055.
