1. Motor vehicle financial protection products may be offered, sold, or given to consumers in this state in compliance with sections 407.2020 to 407.2090.

2. Any amount charged or financed for a motor vehicle financial protection product shall be separately stated and shall not be considered a finance charge or interest.

Terms Used In Missouri Laws 407.2025

  • Finance charge: The total cost of credit a customer must pay on a consumer loan, including interest. The Truth in Lending Act requires disclosure of the finance charge. Source: OCC
  • Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

3. Any extension of credit, terms of credit, or terms of the related motor vehicle sale or lease shall not be conditioned upon the consumer’s payment for or financing of any charge for a motor vehicle financial protection product, except that motor vehicle financial protection products may be discounted or given at no charge in connection with the purchase of other noncredit-related goods or services.
