Terms Used In Missouri Laws 447.584

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • Property: includes real and personal property. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

The treasurer, with the approval of the governor, may enter into agreements with any person, firm or corporation to assist in the identification, collection, and processing of abandoned or escheated property held by any business entity domiciled and located in another state or any governmental entity. The treasurer may agree to pay a fee for such services based in whole or in part on a percentage of the value of any property received pursuant to such agreements. Any expenses paid pursuant to this section may not be deducted from the amount subject to claim under sections 447.500 to 447.595.
