- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
For good cause shown, the court may continue an action to a fixed day, or to a date for trial to be set thereafter. Every continuance granted on the application of a party may be at the cost of such party, if so ordered by the court.
