1. Notwithstanding any provisions of law to the contrary, or any other provision of law in conflict with the provisions of this section, the county collector in each county shall be allowed to employ not less than one full-time deputy and is entitled to employ such number of deputies and assistants as may be necessary to promptly and correctly perform the duties of the collector’s office, and for the deputies and assistants is allowed not less than the amount allowed in 2001 or 2002, whichever is greater.

2. For the purpose of computing the various amounts under the provisions of subsection 1 of this section, the salary of the county collector is the total compensation provided in section 52.269.
