Terms Used In Missouri Laws 54.300

  • Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

If any county treasurer fails or refuses to pay over the public revenue when lawfully required to do so, the county commission shall cause suit to be prosecuted on his bond, and the state director of revenue may prosecute suit against county treasurers on a copy of their bond in the manner allowed by law for prosecuting suits against county collectors.
