- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
The board shall appoint a secretary, clerical personnel and probation and parole officers, who shall serve at the pleasure of the board. It shall be the duty of the secretary to keep a full and true record of the proceedings of the board. Under the direction of the board, the secretary shall have general charge of its office, superintend its clerical employees and perform such other duties as the board may prescribe.
