- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
If any prosecuting attorney shall fail to attend any term of the court having criminal jurisdiction in his county, held in pursuance of law, he shall be fined twenty-five dollars by the court, unless he show good cause to the contrary at the next succeeding term thereof.
