Terms Used In Missouri Laws 59.020

  • following: when used by way of reference to any section of the statutes, mean the section next preceding or next following that in which the reference is made, unless some other section is expressly designated in the reference. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • Recorder of deeds: the separate recorder of deeds in those counties where separate from the circuit clerk and the circuit clerk and ex officio recorder of deeds in those counties where the offices are combined. See Missouri Laws 59.005

In all counties of the first and second classes, and in counties of the third class where the offices of clerk of the circuit court and recorder of deeds are separate, the qualified electors thereof, in the November election in the year 1946 and every four years thereafter, shall elect some suitable person as recorder who shall hold office for four years and until his successor is elected, commissioned, and qualified. He shall enter upon the duties of his office on the first day of January next following the election.
