1. If the department discontinues the use of any building or real property on any of the grounds of a residential facility operated by it and determines it has no future use for the building or grounds, the department may inform the commissioner of administration that the unused building or property is vacant. The governor may, consistent with appropriations, transfer the control and management of the building or property to another state agency.
2. The governor shall obtain the approval of the director before making any such transfer.

- Director: the director of the department of mental health, or his designee. See Missouri Laws 630.005
- Property: includes real and personal property. See Missouri Laws 1.020
- Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
- Residential facility: any premises where residential prevention, evaluation, care, treatment, habilitation or rehabilitation is provided for persons affected by mental disorders, mental illness, intellectual disability, developmental disabilities or alcohol or drug abuse. - State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020
