- State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020
If said change of name is made, said corporate authorities shall cause a copy of the order making such change to be filed in the office of the secretary of state, who shall thereupon make known the facts of such change by publication in some newspaper of the county in which such city, town or village is situated, and also in some newspaper in the City of St. Louis; and all the courts of this state shall take judicial notice of the change there made.
