Nothing contained in sections 86.900 to 86.1280 shall in any way limit the criminal liability of any person subject to prosecution under any law which is now or may hereafter be in force. Should any change or error in records result in any member or beneficiary receiving from the pension system more or less than such person would have been entitled to receive had the records been correct, the retirement board shall correct such error and, as far as practicable, shall adjust the payments in such a manner that the benefit to which said member or beneficiary was correctly entitled shall be paid.
