16-12-525. Confidentiality of registry information — penalty. (1) Except as provided in 37-3-203, a person, including an employee or official of the department, commits the offense of disclosure of confidential information related to registry information if the person knowingly or purposely discloses confidential information in violation of this part.

Terms Used In Montana Code 16-12-525

  • Department: means the department of revenue provided for in 2-15-1301. See Montana Code 16-12-102
  • Employee: means an individual employed to do something for the benefit of an employer. See Montana Code 16-12-102
  • Knowingly: means only a knowledge that the facts exist which bring the act or omission within the provisions of this code. See Montana Code 1-1-204
  • Person: means an individual, partnership, association, company, corporation, limited liability company, or organization. See Montana Code 16-12-102

(2)A person convicted of a violation of this section shall be fined not to exceed $1,000 or imprisoned in the county jail for a term not to exceed 6 months, or both.
