2-1-603. Monitoring and compliance. (1) The attorney general shall:
Terms Used In Montana Code 2-1-603
- Local government: means a municipality, a county, or a consolidated city-county government. See Montana Code 2-1-601
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
- State agency: means an office, position, commission, committee, board, department, council, division, bureau, section, or any other entity or instrumentality of the executive branch of state government. See Montana Code 2-1-601
(a)monitor state and local government compliance with the provisions of 2-1-602; and
(b)investigate compliance complaints.
(2)If an investigation by the attorney general finds that a state agency or local government has violated the provisions of 2-1-602, the attorney general shall bring a civil action against the state agency or local government.
