27-28-105. Jurisdiction and venue. An action under this chapter can be brought in the supreme court of the state or in the district court of the county in which the defendant or one of the defendants resides or is found or, when the defendant is a corporation, in the county in which it is situated or has a place of business.
Terms Used In Montana Code 27-28-105
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
- Venue: The geographical location in which a case is tried.
