33-2-1122. Revocation, suspension, or nonrenewal of insurer‘s license. Whenever it appears to the commissioner that any person has committed a violation of this part that makes the continued operation of an insurer contrary to the interests of policyholders or the public, the commissioner may, after giving notice and an opportunity to be heard, determine to suspend, revoke, or refuse to renew the insurer’s license or authority to do business in this state for a period that the commissioner finds is required for the protection of policyholders or the public. Any determination must be accompanied by specific findings of fact and conclusions of law.
Terms Used In Montana Code 33-2-1122
- Insurer: has the meaning provided in 33-1-201, except that the term does not include agencies, authorities, or instrumentalities of the United States, its possessions and territories, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, or a state or political subdivision of a state. See Montana Code 33-2-1101
- Person: means an individual, a corporation, a partnership, an association, a joint-stock company, a trust, an unincorporated organization, any similar entity, or any combination of the foregoing acting in concert. See Montana Code 33-2-1101
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
