42-10-126. Compacts — optional contents. A compact under 42-10-121 through 42-10-128 may contain:
Terms Used In Montana Code 42-10-126
- Child: means any person under 18 years of age. See Montana Code 42-1-103
- Entitlement: A Federal program or provision of law that requires payments to any person or unit of government that meets the eligibility criteria established by law. Entitlements constitute a binding obligation on the part of the Federal Government, and eligible recipients have legal recourse if the obligation is not fulfilled. Social Security and veterans' compensation and pensions are examples of entitlement programs.
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
(1)provisions establishing procedures and entitlement to medical, developmental, or other social services for the adopted child in accordance with applicable laws, even though the child and the adoptive parents are in a state other than the one responsible for or providing the services or the funds to defray part or all of the costs of the services; and
(2)other provisions as may be appropriate or incidental to the proper administration of the compact.
