- Acquire: when used in connection with a grant of power or property right to any person shall include the purchase, grant, gift, devise, bequest, and obtaining by eminent domain. See Nebraska Statutes 49-801
- Action: shall include any proceeding in any court of this state. See Nebraska Statutes 49-801
- Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
- Attorney: shall mean attorney at law. See Nebraska Statutes 49-801
- Company: shall include any corporation, partnership, limited liability company, joint-stock company, joint venture, or association. See Nebraska Statutes 49-801
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Department: means the Division of Public Health of the Department of Health and Human Services. See Nebraska Statutes 71-8905
- Distribution: means the act of receiving orders, possessing, warehousing, and record keeping related to the sale and delivery of veterinary legend drugs. See Nebraska Statutes 71-8906
- Distribution does not: include (a) intracompany sales of veterinary legend drugs, including any transaction or transfer between any division, subsidiary, or parent company and an affiliated or related company under common ownership or common control or (b) the delivery of or the offer to deliver veterinary legend drugs by a common carrier solely in the usual course of business of transporting such drugs as a common carrier if the common carrier does not store, warehouse, or take legal ownership of such drugs. - Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.
- Forgery: The fraudulent signing or alteration of another's name to an instrument such as a deed, mortgage, or check. The intent of the forgery is to deceive or defraud. Source: OCC
- Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
- Human legend drug: means any drug labeled for human use and required by federal law or regulation to be dispensed pursuant to a prescription, including finished dosage forms and active ingredients. See Nebraska Statutes 71-8907
- Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Oath: A promise to tell the truth.

- School: means a school under the jurisdiction of a school board authorized by Nebraska Statutes 79-101
- School board: means the governing body of any school district. See Nebraska Statutes 79-101

- Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
- Veterinarian-client-patient relationship: means a relationship pursuant to which (1) a veterinarian has assumed the responsibility for making clinical judgments regarding the health of an animal and the need for medical treatment and the client has agreed to follow the veterinarian's instructions, (2) the veterinarian has sufficient knowledge of the animal to initiate at least a general or preliminary diagnosis of the medical condition of the animal, meaning that the veterinarian has recently seen and is personally acquainted with the keeping and care of the animal by virtue of an examination of the animal or by medically appropriate and timely visits to the premises where the animal is kept, and (3) the veterinarian is readily available or has arranged for emergency coverage and for followup evaluation in the event of adverse reactions or the failure of the treatment regimen. - Veterinary drug distributor: means any person or entity that engages in the distribution of veterinary legend drugs in the State of Nebraska other than a pharmacy or a veterinarian licensed under the Uniform Credentialing Act acting within the scope of practice of veterinary medicine and surgery as defined in section Nebraska Statutes 71-8909
- Veterinary drug order: means a lawful order or prescription of a veterinarian licensed to practice in this state issued pursuant to a bona fide veterinarian-client-patient relationship. See Nebraska Statutes 71-8910
- Veterinary legend drug: means a drug which under federal law is required, prior to being distributed, to be labeled with the following statement: "Caution: Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. See Nebraska Statutes 71-8911
- Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
