If an assignee or distributee is a nonresident minor or incapacitated person who has a guardian of his or her estate legally appointed under the laws of a foreign jurisdiction, the distribution of the assignee’s or distributee’s share may be made to the legally appointed guardian, whose receipt therefor, together with a certificate of appointment issued under the seal of the court by the clerk of the court appointing the guardian, when filed with the clerk of the court in which the assignment or distribution was ordered, must be received by the court as a complete receipt and voucher in favor of the personal representative.

- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
