Nevada Revised Statutes 244.3655 – Requiring users of certain water systems to connect into system provided by public utility or public entity; assessment of costs of connection

- population: means the number of people in a specified area as determined by the last preceding national decennial census conducted by the Bureau of the Census of the United States Department of Commerce pursuant to Section 2 of Nevada Revised Statutes 0.050
(a) A water system which is located in a county and was constructed on or after July 1, 1991, is not satisfactorily serving the needs of its users; and
(b) Water provided by a public utility or a municipality or other public entity may be accessed within 1,250 feet of any lot or parcel served by the water system, the board of county commissioners of that county shall, in a county whose population is 700,000 or more, and may, in all other counties, require all users of the system to connect into the available water system provided by a public utility or a municipality or other public entity, and may assess each lot or parcel served for its proportionate share of the costs associated with connecting into that water system. If the water system is being connected into a public utility, the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada shall determine the amount of the assessments for the purposes of establishing a lien pursuant to NRS 445A.900.
2. As used in this section, ‘water system’ has the meaning ascribed to it in NRS 445A.850.
