The town code may, by ordinance regularly passed, adopted and published, be amended or extended. All general ordinances passed after the adoption of a town code shall be amendments or extensions thereof. No section of the code shall be amended by reference only, but the section, as amended, shall be reenacted and published at length. Three copies of any amendment or extension shall be filed with the town or county clerk and two copies of any amendment or extension shall be filed with the Librarian of the Supreme Court Law Library.

- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
