Upon receipt of a complaint filed by an employee alleging he or she is being harassed or discriminated against based on his or her sex or gender or has witnessed an employee being harassed or discriminated against based on his or her sex or gender, an appointing authority shall promptly notify the Sex- or Gender-Based Harassment and Discrimination Investigation Unit created by NRS 284.4086 and:

- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- person: means a natural person, any form of business or social organization and any other nongovernmental legal entity including, but not limited to, a corporation, partnership, association, trust or unincorporated organization. See Nevada Revised Statutes 0.039
1. A person designated by the appointing authority to handle issues relating to sex- or gender-based harassment and discrimination; or
2. The deputy attorney general or other counsel designated to act as an attorney for the agency.
