Nevada Revised Statutes 338.13844 – Amount of preferences
1. For the purpose of awarding a contract for a public work of this State for which the estimated cost is $100,000 or less, as governed by NRS 338.13862, if a local business owned and operated by a veteran with a service-connected disability submits a bid, the bid shall be deemed to be 5 percent lower than the bid actually submitted.
Terms Used In Nevada Revised Statutes 338.13844
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Contract: means a written contract entered into between a contractor and a public body for the provision of labor, materials, equipment or supplies for a public work. See Nevada Revised Statutes 338.010
- Public work: means any project for the new construction, repair or reconstruction of a project financed in whole or in part from public money for:
(a) Public buildings;
(b) Jails and prisons;
(c) Public roads;
(d) Public highways;
(e) Public streets and alleys;
(f) Public utilities;
(g) Publicly owned water mains and sewers;
(h) Public parks and playgrounds;
(i) Public convention facilities which are financed at least in part with public money; and
(j) All other publicly owned works and property. See Nevada Revised Statutes 338.010
2. For the purpose of awarding a contract for a public work of this State for which the estimated cost is more than $100,000 but less than $250,000, if a local business owned and operated by a veteran with a service-connected disability that has been determined to be 50 percent or more by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs submits a bid and is a responsive and responsible bidder, the bid shall be deemed to be 5 percent lower than the bid actually submitted.
3. The preferences described in subsections 1 and 2 may not be combined with any other preference.
