1.  The State Board shall prepare a plan to improve the achievement of pupils enrolled in the public schools in this State. The plan:

Terms Used In Nevada Revised Statutes 385.111

  • Charter school: means a public school that is formed pursuant to the provisions of chapter 388A of NRS. See Nevada Revised Statutes 385.007
  • county: includes Carson City. See Nevada Revised Statutes 0.033
  • Department: means the Department of Education. See Nevada Revised Statutes 385.007
  • population: means the number of people in a specified area as determined by the last preceding national decennial census conducted by the Bureau of the Census of the United States Department of Commerce pursuant to Section 2 of Nevada Revised Statutes 0.050
  • Public schools: means all kindergartens and elementary schools, junior high schools and middle schools, high schools, charter schools and any other schools, classes and educational programs which receive their support through public taxation and, except for charter schools, whose textbooks and courses of study are under the control of the State Board. See Nevada Revised Statutes 385.007
  • State Board: means the State Board of Education. See Nevada Revised Statutes 385.007

(a) Must be prepared in consultation with:

(1) Employees of the Department;

(2) At least one employee of a school district in a county whose population is 100,000 or more, appointed by the Nevada Association of School Boards;

(3) At least one employee of a school district in a county whose population is less than 100,000, appointed by the Nevada Association of School Boards; and

(4) At least one representative of the Statewide Council for the Coordination of the Regional Training Programs created by NRS 391A.130, appointed by the Council; and

(b) May be prepared in consultation with:

(1) Representatives of institutions of higher education;

(2) Representatives of regional educational laboratories;

(3) Representatives of outside consultant groups;

(4) Representatives of the regional training programs for the professional development of teachers and administrators created by NRS 391A.120;

(5) The Legislative Bureau of Educational Accountability and Program Evaluation; and

(6) Other persons who the State Board determines are appropriate.

2.  On or before March 31 of each year, the State Board shall submit the plan or the revised plan, as applicable, to the:

(a) Governor;

(b) Joint Interim Standing Committee on Education;

(c) Legislative Bureau of Educational Accountability and Program Evaluation;

(d) Board of Regents of the University of Nevada;

(e) Board of trustees of each school district; and

(f) Governing body of each charter school.
