Nevada Revised Statutes 396.328 – Provision of crash reports and related materials upon receipt of reasonable fee; exceptions
The Police Department for the System shall, within 7 days after receipt of a written request of a person who claims to have sustained damages as a result of a crash, or the person’s legal representative or insurer, and upon receipt of a reasonable fee to cover the cost of reproduction, provide the person, his or her legal representative or insurer, as applicable, with a copy of the crash report and all statements by witnesses and photographs in the possession or under the control of the Department that concern the crash, unless:

- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Department: means the Department of Education. See Nevada Revised Statutes 385.007
- person: means a natural person, any form of business or social organization and any other nongovernmental legal entity including, but not limited to, a corporation, partnership, association, trust or unincorporated organization. See Nevada Revised Statutes 0.039
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
- substantial bodily harm: means :
- System: means the Nevada System of Higher Education. See Nevada Revised Statutes 396.005
1. The materials are privileged or confidential pursuant to a specific statute; or
2. The crash involved:
(a) The death or substantial bodily harm of a person;
(b) Failure to stop at the scene of a crash; or
(c) The commission of a felony.
